A rubber gasket is basically used to seal a tiny gap between two joints or mating surfaces. The only drawback is that these gaskets are costlier than most others.

EPDM gasket: EPDM rubber is quite popular due to its ability to withstand harsh weather conditions, insulation and mechanical properties at extreme temperatures. It is even resistant to acids, alcohol and other solvents.
